The Dallas Cowboys training camp is just around the corner, as the offseason workouts go to new heights as the players compete for a spot on the 53-man roster.

More from Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones and his team will open up training camp next week, with rookies and veterans reporting on the same day.

The team’s 2014 training camp will open up on July 23.

For the Cowboys, training camp will be held at City of Oxnard Fields of Oxnard, Calif.

While the fans would always like to have the Cowboys closer to Valley Ranch, the team has fans all across the nation and it is a great opportunity for the Cowboys to show some love to their fans on the West Coast.

It is also nice for the team to get away from the distractions in Dallas, because the lights will be shining bright when they return home for another season that will likely feature unrealistic expectations.

The Cowboys have failed to make the playoffs the previous three years, having been ousted in Week 17 by divisional opponents.  This year’s team will hopefully have the extra ability to deliver in the final weeks of the regular season and reach the postseason.
