He was chosen as the American League captain for the 2014 MLB Home Run Derby for a reason.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, who has 228 career long-balls, including an impressive 54 back in 2010, tallied 10 home runs in the first round of the derby on Monday night – tops among not only AL sluggers, but NL, as well.

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton came in second in the first round with six homers.

Both players received a bye in the second round.
