Giancarlo Stanton was widely expected to be the fan favorite at this year’s 2014 Gillette Home Run Derby in Minneapolis.
And, boy, he did not disappoint.
His six first-round home runs led all National League sluggers and placed second overall behind only Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista. So far this season, Stanton has hit 21 home runs and Bautista has pounded out 17 long-balls.
Those two sluggers, under the new derby format, get a bye in the second round.
Be sure to stay tuned for updates from the Home Run Derby.
