The Los Angeles Lakers owned the No. 7 overall pick in the NBA Draft this past year and that might seem low compared to where they could end up picking next summer when the draft rolls around.

More from NBA

According to NBA scribe Chuck Myron, when it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers and where they’ll spend money this offseason, you shouldn’t hold your breath for a big move. Los Angeles isn’t expecting to contend this upcoming season which means a lot of familiar faces will be back to fill out the lineup.

"I’d get ready to see a lot of familiar names pop up … Xavier Henry, Kent Bazemore, Ryan Kelly … the Lakers know they’re not going to contend this coming season, so I think they’ll bring back the guys who excelled when given an opportunity last year and try to see who’s worth keeping once they are ready to contend. It’s part of the rebuilding process that Lakers fans are lucky not to be that familiar with."

The Lakers have a decent lineup to throw on the floor but it’s an Eastern Conference quality lineup in the toughest part of the West. They might not be as bad as they were last year but asking them to be contenders is asking way too much from a team already settling into a lottery pick next year.
