Miami Heat Rumors: Mario Chalmers deal worth $8M over two years
By Josh Hill
The NBA Finals were pretty brutal for Mario Chalmers as he entered the series looking like he might be in line for a giant free agent contract but ended things with less than a whimper and crushed free agent dreams.

Chalmers is back in Miami though, as the guard has inked a two-year deal to return to the only team that seemed to want him. The details of his contract are what truly show how far back Chalmers fell in free agency as while he looked to be in line for a sweet deal before the Finals started, he is now the recipient of an $8 million contract from the Heat — which averages out to less than what Brian Roberts makes per year with the Hornets.
The Heat can use Chalmers, as it’s not as though he’s a completely useless guard, he’s just going to have to earn the respect and the trust back of his teammates and the fans following his terrible NBA Finals showing.
It may not be the deal he was hoping for, but at least Chalmers has a chance to reset and move forward with trying to get back to the level where $8 million isn’t a figure that represents his total salary.
