South Carolina Gamecocks’ head coach Steve Spurrier is always a hit at SEC Media Days and this year was no different.

Spurrier has also been a hit on the recruiting trail and is in the midst of putting together his best recruiting class since he’s been at South Carolina. On Tuesday, Spurrier added two more players to the Gamecocks’ 2015 recruiting class. 3-Star Junior College defensive end Dante Sawyer and 3-Star wide receiver Jerad Washington gave their pledges to the Gamecocks.

If Sawyer sounds like a familiar name, it should be. He committed to the Gamecocks last year as a 4-Star recruit out of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia and signed with the Gamecocks on National Signing Day in February. However, he did not qualify and opened his recruiting back up. Obviously, it wasn’t all that open. The 6’2.5, 262-poundernow attends East Mississippi Community College. He is ranked as the country’s top junior college weak-side defensive prospect, the ninth-best overall junior college prospect in the state of Mississippi and the 23rd-best overall junior college player in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

The 5’9, 165-pound Washington is from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and attends First Coast High School in Jacksonville, a school the Gamecocks are quite familiar with (linebacker Sherrod Pittman is from First Coast). Washington is ranked as the country’s 148th-best wide receiver prospect, the 163rd-best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 1,174th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015.

The Gamecocks now have 22 verbal commitments in the class of 2015 and their class ranks third in the country, trailing only the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies.
