Eventually writer/director Quentin Tarantino will make a really bad film. Eventually. That likely will not be the case with his next project, The Hateful Eight. The film has long been rumored but held back by Tarantino for some time. In fact some believed the western may never get made. Thanks to Kurt Russell we may get to see that film finally realized.

Speaking to a FOX network affiliate in Philadelphia, Russell, who appeared in another Tarantino film, Death Proof, may have inadvertently leaked news of the proposed films start date. Russell was talking to the network about a Netflix documentary, The Battered Bastards of Baseball, when he was asked what was next on his agenda.

"“There’s a Tarantino project called The Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year.”"

Tarantino had held the film back from production over a leaked script and had decided that he would not make the film at all. Production was supposed to begin at the start of this summer. With the project being shelved Tarantino was expected to move on with other projects. It now appears that The Hateful Eight will begin filming sometime in 2015 and would likely make it to the big screen in late 2016 or 2017.

Tarantino’s last film, Django Unchained earned the director an Oscar nomination for best picture. While it lost in that category, Tarantino won for best original screenplay and Christoph Waltz won best supporting actor. The Hateful Eight film is reportedly going to start Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, and Amber Tamblyn all of whom performed a reading of the script in Los Angeles prior to the scripts being leaked.

While Tarantino has yet to officially announce the film, it appears that Russell has leaked the news. Hopefully Tarantino doesn’t take this leak and put the project back on the shelf again.
