When the Los Angeles Lakers debuted their ‘Hollywood Nights’ jersey last season, it was met with great fanfare. No, it wasn’t the typical gold or ‘forum blue’  *cough* purple *cough* that so many were accustom to, but the black look was a nice touch.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Of course, all good things must come to an end and the ‘Hollywood Nights’ jersey will no longer be used, at least not in the capacity that you remember it.

While the colors and logo will remain the same for the 2014-15 season, the Lakers’ ‘Hollywood Nights’ jersey will now be sleeved, much to the disappointment of many in Southern California. The sleeved look hasn’t caught on and the NBA continues to promote the style despite so many being so opposed.

Personally, I thought the Los Angeles Lakers’ ‘Hollywood Nights’ jersey was one of the better in the league (along with their Sunday white jersey) but I can’t say I’m a big fan of the sleeved look.

They of course will join their Staples Center tenants, the Los Angeles Clippers who have their own powder blue sleeved jersey which they debuted last season.

The Lakers are just one of many rumored teams to be on the receiving end of a new sleeved jersey which are for the moment being referred to as ‘pride’ uniforms. I think the NBA and Adidas may have been better served going with a completely new look rather than altering what was already a fine product, but they seem determined to have the look catch on.

In addition, the NBA will be adding a gold stripe to the jersey of teams who have won an NBA championship before, which should give the new ‘Hollywood Nights’ uniform a unique look.
