Albuquerque Isotopes forced to forfeit game after roster mistake
By Dan Zinski
The minor league team famously named after the Simpsons’ Springfield Isotopes committed a flub worthy of Homer Simpson at his most inept, and were forced to forfeit a victory as a result.

Per MiLB.com, the ‘Topes July 10th win over El Paso – a game that actually started on July 9 but had to be picked up the next day after a rain suspension – was rendered null and void after it was discovered that the team played with one extra man on its 25-man roster.
The error happened when, prior to the game, the Dodgers removed Joc Pederson from the disabled list, adding him to the ‘Topes active roster. Unfortunately, someone forgot to remove a player from the roster to make way for Pederson, giving the ‘Topes one man too many.
D’oh, indeed.
Pederson played in the forfeited 7-6 Albuquerque win, going 3-4 with a pair of extra-base hits. The game was won on a walk-off double by Brian Cavazos-Galvez, but it actually wasn’t because the ‘Topes weren’t legal. The game will now go in the books as a 9-0 win for El Paso, but all individual stats will count.
If the ‘Topes were owned by Montgomery Burns, he would drop the individual responsible for this mistake down the hatch in his office. Whoever keeps track of roster moves for Albuquerque was asleep at the switch like Homer in the control room of the nuclear plant.
Shall I Simpsons reference again or do you get the point? IT’S THE TEAM WITH THE SIMPSONS NAME.
