ESPYs 2014: Ronda Rousey wins Best Female Athlete (Video)

The category for Best Female Athlete had some pretty good contenders at the ESPYs on Wednesday night, but coming in it’s pretty safe to say that the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey was the clear-cut favorite.

Well, those people were correct as she did take home the award Wednesday night. The award was presented by Colin Kaepernick and Chrissy Teigen.

It’s an honor to be called the unquestioned best at what you do, but that’s exactly what Rousey is to the sport of Women’s MMA. So far, no one has even come close to beating her, and it doesn’t look like anyone will anytime soon.

In her latest fight last Saturday at UFC 175, she showed that she’s only getting better when she knocked out challenger Alexis Davis in 16 seconds. Although this time, as opposed to showing off her submission abilities, she showed just how great of a striker she is becoming. She is most certainly the deadliest woman on the planet, and she just keeps driving that point home–literally.

Unfortunately, after undergoing surgery, Rousey was not on hand to accept the award, and Teigen accepted it on her behalf.

Congratulations to Ronda Rousey on her ESPY for Best Female Athlete on Wednesday night.
