ESPY’s social media reporter botches live segment

The 2014 ESPY’s are taking place on Wednesday night, and while you may or may not be watching because Drake is hosting it is already off to a rough start. The red carpet coverage switched to Deanna Kay, who was serving as the ESPY’s social media correspondent.

She started off introducing how they could get involved in the ESPY’s coverage on social media. Basic stuff like Twitter handle and hashtags to use.

Oddly, things took a wrong turn when she was no longer visible on camera. She was reading people’s “I don’t ever give up for” pledges as they showed the individuals holding their signs up on the screen.

First she fumbled over Stuart Scott’s, and Scott has been battling cancer. Then she begins to stumble and gets a bunch of syllables out that make no kind of coherent sentence and totally skips over Michael Sam’s pledge sheet.

At one point she just gives up and goes on to talking about being happy to be there and having fun just to get a sentence out to recover a bit before sending the segment away.

Looks like she had some jitters, hopefully she recovers later in the show.
