Adam Silver is a shaker and mover. He hasn’t holstered his thoughts or his actions since taking a spot as commissioner. He started with mop duty in Los Angeles, cleaning up aisle Donald Sterling. Now, he is thinking about something a bit lighter — Some entertainment. He’s thinking about an NBA Awards show.

It would be an awesome place for stars to sport their latest swag. The response on twitter was relatively positive. The ceremony makes sense. It’s sort of odd one isn’t already in place.

And Vegas? Classic! You know Johnny Football would attend, and thus all major media sources would follow with him. All kidding aside, this could provide a great platform for the NBA to give out it’s awards like the MVP and Sixth Man of the Year. The NFL has a ceremony. College football does the Heisman Ceremony. Why shouldn’t the NBA have their own?

It would probably be very popular amongst players, too. Aside from the All-Star game, the best players around the league don’t typically hangout unless they’re playing each other — at which point, they’re not really hanging out.

And, of course, it would make plenty of money for the league. The fiscal reasoning is an easy pull for the ceremony. Sponsors would likely be jumping in line to put their name on the event. The publicity and entertainment side of the event might attract a different audience than the traditional super fans. It could be a yet another great move for commissioner Silver.
