Transfer news: Barcelona undecided on the future of Xavi

The World Cup has come to an end and the soccer world is transitioning back to club news. That means transfer rumors, and one of the names amongst them is Barcelona and Spain midfielder Xavi.

He has been linked to Major League Soccer, one of just the latest of European stars considering or making the hump. David Villa is making the the leap and Kaka has signed with Orlando City.

Xavi is under contract with Barcelona for two more years and that means any move would result in Barcelona wanting to send him.

“Yes, I’ve spoken to Xavi and it’s a matter that hasn’t been decided yet,” Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said at his first press conference on Wednesday, via Sky Sports.

“He has a contract with the club and we’re waiting to see what decision he comes to.

“He’s a player for whom I have a lot of respect.”

Xavi has spent his entire career with Barcelona coming up through the academy system. At 34-years-old he has close to 800 appearances for the first team.
