UFC Fight Night 45 results: Lucas Martins TKOs Alex White in Round 3

To open up the UFC Fight Night 45: Cerrone vs. Miller main card on FOX Sports 1, Lucas Martins and Alex White entered the Octagon for a featherweight bout at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Martins (14-1) was in search of his third straight win under the UFC banner, while White (10-0) was hoping to keep his unbeaten in record intact and build off of his impressive knockout win over Estevan Payan in his UFC debut earlier this year.

Play-by-play of the bout below:

Round 1: Both men opened up looking to establish their kicking game, but White landed the first significant shot of the night with a big right. Martins answered with a big left that stunned White, who was staggering up against the cage. When White regained his composure, he landed a straight left, but Martins answered with more heavy shots to White’s head. White continued to move forward despite getting rocked multiple times by Martins. White was getting caught every time he jumped in to begin a combination, but he was hanging tough. Martins landed an impressive flurry to end the round with White up against the cage. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, Martins

Round 2: White still ooked fresh in the second despite absorbing all of the damage that he did in Round 1. White was starting to mix up his strikes better to start the round and worked in some feints in an effort to throw off the timing of Martins counter-attack. White was throwing far more volume than Martins, who was standing in front of White and only looking to counter. White landed a nice combination as he put the pressure on Martins and landed a spinning backfist that dropped Martins to the mat. Martins quickly bounced back to his feet but appeared to be stunned. Martins shot for a takedown, but White was able to shake it off and break away from Martins’ clinch. White finished off the round with a big right. FanSided scorecard: 10-9, White (19-19)

Round 3: Martins came out of the gate in the final frame more aggressive. White went for a flying knee that missed and he fell to the mat. White bounced back and the two men continued to stand in front of each other with neither fighter looking for a takedown. Martins landed a huge counter shot with his right hand that stunned White before he collapsed to the mat with a delayed reaction. Martins followed up with a few shots after White hit the mat and that brought an end to the fight.

Official Result: Lucas Martins def. Alex White via TKO (strikes) – Round 3, 2:08
