College football has been kicking off seasons at AT&T Stadium in Arlington since 2009. Every season it has been played between in early September or late August, and usually pits two ranked teams off against one another.
Last year the NO. 12 LSU Tigers defeated the No. 20 TCU Horned Frogs. It was announced on Wednesday that the Southern California Trojans will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide at the 2016 games. It will be Alabama’s third time playing in the game, previously defeating the Michigan Wolverines in 2012 and being scheduled to play the Wisconsin Badgers the season prior to that 2016 match up. It will also make Alabama the first team to play three times in the game.
The LSU Tigers and TCU Horne Frogs have each played in it twice and the Michigan Wolverines are scheduled to make a second appearance in 2017. Surprisingly the game has been void of some of the notable programs in the Big 12, a conference covering the region.
