As they were apparently headed to the BCS National Championship Game once again last season, the wheels fell off for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide at the end of the year. They lost two straight games and had everyone wondering what happened to the most dominant team in the country.

Some folks, including former QB AJ McCarron as he was getting ready for the NFL Draft, chalked that up to everyone’s egos getting just a little too big, especially on the younger guys that will now be the leaders going into the 2014 season.

Well in his first appearance at SEC Media Days on Thursday, one of the first comments to come from Saban was how his team, in order to get back to their dominant ways, needs to check the egos at the door and not be selfish.

Despite the downfall of last season, earlier in the day on Thursday the SEC media picked the Crimson Tide to come away with the conference trophy. So you would imagine that Saban would want to nip any ego problems right in the bud right off the bat with this team that definitely has the capabilities of pulling off what the media thinks they can.
