Talk about an unfortunate offseason for the Houston Rockets. From attempting to lure Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and LeBron James to losing Chandler Parsons, things haven’t went how general manager Daryl Morey envisioned them.

More from Houston Rockets

The news only gets worse though as according to Nikos Papaioannou, the deal lined up to bring Kostas Papanikolaou over from FC Barcelona has fallen apart and the forward will remain across the Atlantic and play in Spain next season.

Given the loss of the aforementioned Chandler Parsons, Kostas Papanikolaou was expected to see some minutes for the Houston Rockets this season who had allegedly offered him a two-year deal worth upwards of $5 million dollars. Why exactly the deal fell through is unknown, though it’s another upsetting blow to fans in Space City who were hoping to have some type of reinforcements on their way.

Thankfully, the Houston Rockets do have some money left so they’re not completely out of the woods. Of course, most of the major impact players have already signed but there are still some high quality talents like Eric Bledsoe available on the open market – who the Rockets may allegedly have interest in signing.

So while it’s been a rough offseason so far, there is still time for the Houston Rockets to get their ship pointed back in the right direction. And while the addition of Kostas Papanikolaou would have been nice, especially for bench play, he’s by no stretch going to be the difference between a good or poor season for the Rockets.
