Over the past week, the Minnesota Timberwolves trading Kevin Love has turned into not a matter of if, but when. Two suitors have lined up in the Cleveland Cavaliers, who will offer up no. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins, and the Golden State Warriors, who now have changed their minds about adding Klay Thompson.

So, which one of these basketball studs to the Timberwolves prefer? Well, according to Joe Kotoch of Pro Basketball Draft, they will take the deal from the Warriors with Thompson over the Cavs’ deal with Wiggins for the same reason that Cleveland is willing to give Wiggins up–they’re not sure he’s ready, whereas Thompson has proven that he is.

This has been the main point of the trade talks surrounding Wiggins. While many look down the road at a potential star-studded tandem with the returning LeBron James, the fact still remains that no one knows yet whether or not he’s going to be anything special in the league.

Thompson, on the other hand, averaged over 18 points per game last season in helping lead the Warriors to the playoffs. He’s proven to be one of the most accurate shooters the game has to offer. And while he might not be on the same level as Love, the Timberwolves would be getting a player in return that’s about as close to him.

Whatever the case, again, Love will be on the move soon and it will be to either Cleveland or Golden State.
