Kevin Smith’s horror film Tusk gets a September release date

It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since writer, director, and all around indie film master Kevin Smith has begun work on his upcoming horror film Tusk, but in fact…it has.

Now that production on the film is finally beginning to wind down, Kevin Smith fans finally know when the film will be hitting theaters nationwide.

The transformation officially begins on September 19th.

The film will be met with some pretty interesting competition on the 19th.

Also being released that day is Fox’s sci-fi thriller The Maze Runner, the comedy This Is Where I Leave You starring Jason Bateman and Tina Fey, and Universal’s drama A Walk Among the Tombstones with Liam Neeson.

Now wait…this is not the only good news to come down the pipeline today. As some of you may already be aware, Kevin Smith is going to be holding his own panel this year in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 25th.

Those who are lucky enough to find themselves a seat in his panel, which is called “The Musk of Tusk: An Evening With Kevin Smith,” will be among the first to view the official trailer for the film.

Now, for those of you who are not yet familiar with the premise of his creepy new film, here is a quick look at the synopsis for the film courtesy of IMDb.com.

“When his best friend and podcast co-host goes missing in the backwoods of Canada, a young guy joins forces with his friend’s girlfriend to search for him.”

What the synopsis fails to mention, which I think is a pretty important detail, is that the poor guy who has been lured away has been taken somewhere by a total creep who is in the process of transforming him into a Walrus.

If there is anything that we have learned about Kevin Smith over the years is that he does not make your conventional movie, so anything he touches is sure to be outside of the box. I can imagine Tusk will be no exception.

The film has plenty of recognizable names in the cast. Tusk stars Alpha House’s Haley Joel Osment, Drag Me To Hell actor Justin Long, Ralph Garman, Michael Parks, Genesis Rodriguez, Harley Morenstein, and more.

Tusk is scheduled to be released on September 19, 2014.
