On Friday night, leading Muay Thai promotion Lion Fight has announced that middleweight champion Yodsanklai Fairtex and women’s welterweight title holder Jorina Baars will be defending their titles at Legacy FC 18 on Sept. 5.
The news first surfaced on Friday’s edition of Inside MMA on AXS TV.
“Lion Fight is bringing two of the best Muay Thai fighters, Yodsanklai Fairtex and Jorina Baars, back to the U.S. for LION FIGHT 18 at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas,” said Lion Fight CEO Scott Kent in a statement.
“In the world of Muay Thai, no name is bigger than Yodsanklai Fairtex and to have him fight on the same night as Jorina Baars, who just defeated the ‘baddest woman on the planet, Cris ‘Cyborg,’ makes LION FIGHT 18 a mega-fight for fans everywhere.”
No opponents were named for either fighter after the date for their next bouts were set.
For Baars, she is still riding the high of defeating Cris Cyborg at Lion Fight 14 and promises a win over whoever Lion Fight puts in front of her next.
“This is my sport,” said Baars. “Whoever Lion Fight puts in front of me on September 5th, I will do the same. I’ve been fighting my whole life. No one is going to take this title from me.”
Lion Fight 18 will take place at the Joint in Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Friday, September 5.
If you’ve never watched a Lion Fight event, there will be no better time to start than with Lion Fight 18 with two of the biggest names in Muay Thai.
