Make-a-Wish helps Xander Bailey suits up for Sounders

Xander Bailey, 18-years-old, was signed by the Seattle Sounders as part of the Make-A-Wish program on Wednesday. Bailey suffers from cystic fibrosis. On Friday, he trained with the team including stars and United States men’s national team heroes Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin.

That is where most professional sports teams stop, but the Sounders are not your average team. The Sounders of Major League Soccer played Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly, and it was a special game. The Sounders dressed up Bailey for the friendly against the Spurs, and took it a step further by starting him at CenturyLink Field in front of 55,000 fans.

The Spurs were obviously clued in as to what was going on and allowed him to take the ball in on goal and get a shot off and it was actually a decent shot on goal.

And further demonstrating how incredible soccer fans can be, the Sounders crowed embraced Bailey with signs.

Bailey was subbed off shortly after that shot on goal and got a hug from Dempsey.
