The Penn State Nittany Lions added their first commitment in the class of 2016 on Saturday when 4-Star running back Miles Sanders committed to Penn State.

The 5’10, 195-pound Sanders is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attends Woodland Hills High School. Although he is yet to enter his senior season, Sanders has already had an excellent career and his speed should continue to give defenders fits on the next level.

“Sanders took home running back MVP honors and he was turning heads from drills all the way through one-on-ones,” analyst Woody Wommack wrote via BlueWhite Illustrated. “At 5-foot-10 and 192 pounds, he’s built like a traditional running back but has the burst and abilities in the receiving game of an all-purpose back. Once he turned on the burners, it was tough to defenders to make up ground.”

Sanders is ranked as the 10th-best running back prospect in the country, the fourth-best overall prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the 144th-best overall prospect in the class of 2016, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Sanders was the second commitment of the day for the Nittany Lions – class of 2015 3-Star wide receiver Irvin Charles pledged to Penn State on Saturday as well.

Sanders wasn’t the first top-notch 2016 prospect to make a commitment on Saturday – 4-Star offensive lineman Ryan Johnson, who stands at 6’5.5 and 270 pounds and attends the Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, pledged to the Tennessee Volunteers. A day earlier, 5-Star offensive tackle Patrick Hudson also made a commitment. The 6’5.5, 325-pounder, who is from Silsbee, Texas and attend Silsbee High School, committed to the Baylor Bears.
