Ryan Johnson commits to Tennessee: Volunteers nab 4-Star OT
Under second-year head coach Butch Jones, the Tennessee Volunteers are putting together one heck of a recruiting class. In the class of 2015, the Volunteers already have 20 commitments. Their class is ranked fifth in the SEC and seventh in the country. This comes on the heels of a 2014 recruiting class in which the Volunteers signed 31 players and it also ranked fifth in the SEC and seventh in the country.

Their 2016 recruiting class is off to a good start as well. On Saturday, the Volunteers landed their third 2016 commitment when 4-Star offensive tackle Ryan Johnson joined 4-Star tight end Darel Middleton (Powell, Tennessee) and athlete Dorian Banks (Gallatin, TN).
“First off, Tennessee is my home school, and I felt that was really important to me,” said Johnson via Ryan Callahan of 24/7 Sports.
“Having my family and friends coming to watch me at Tennessee is really important to me. Also, a lot of things went into it — the tradition. And then, as many fans as they have, the fan base at Tennessee is really important to me. Having 102,000 people coming to watch you play every Saturday is pretty cool.”
The 6’5.5, 270-pound Johnson is from Brentwood, Tennessee and attends the Brentwood Academy. He is ranked as the country’s 19th-best offensive tackle prospect, the fifth-best prospect in the state of Tennessee and the 240th-best overall prospect in the class of 2016, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. Johnson holds offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Kansas State Wildcats, Mississippi State Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels, among others.
