Conor McGregor made it known that the Irish are taking over mixed martial arts and the UFC. Prior to McGregor’s main event fight yesterday at UFC Fight Night 46, Conor claimed that thousands upon thousands would tune in to watch him beat down Diego Brandao.
In the end, McGregor backed up all of his talk by not only defeating Diego Brandao, but taking him out in the first round via TKO just like he said he would.
It also appears that McGregor was correct when he said everyone would be watching the fight, as apparently Arnold Schwarzenegger found the time to watch McGregor’s highly anticipated return to the Octagon.
Today, Arnold took to Twitter to congratulate the Irishman on an excellent performance. Not only that, Arnold gave Conor a special nickname that we sure hope sticks.
Congratulations @TheNotoriousMMA on a fantastic victory yesterday. You are the McGregor-nator.

Schwarzenegger does not use Twitter often, so the fact that he used it to congratulate the UFC and McGregor is definitely something to note.
McGregor absolutely has the potential to become the next great UFC superstar if the cards are played correctly. A few more big wins in marquee fights, and McGregor could find himself fighting for a UFC title by mid year 2015.
If McGregor can one day become champion, the sky’s the limit in regards to his popularity. The question is, can McGregor continue to back up his talk and prove he is worthy of a title shot? We will ultimately find out sooner rather than later.
