Arsene Wenger: Cesc Fabregas 'landed where he wanted to go'

Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas left the club three years ago to join La Liga giants FC Barcelona. This summer Fabregas was on the move again and it was just a matter of where.

There were some who wondered if he could return to Arsenal, but instead he signed with another Premier League giant, Chelsea FC. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, always ready and willing to stir the pot, said that Fabregas was not open to returning to Arsneal.

“How did I persuade him? I spoke to him for about 20 minutes,” Mourinho said, via ESPN. “I think he really wanted to come. Arsenal had an option where they could interfere, but I don’t think he was open to that. He was in our direction so it was easy for me.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wouldn’t address those comments after Saturday’s friendly win over Boreham Wood.

“I think people came out and said he wanted to go to Chelsea,” said Wenger, via Sky Sports.

“I don’t know who tells the truth here or not. He landed where he wanted to go.”
