Rory McIlroy won the British Open today as he held on to a two stroke lead over the field after coming in to the final round of the Open with a seven stroke lead. Although it got a bit hairy down the stretch for Rory as he was on the brink of an utter collapse, he was able to fend off his opponents and take home his third major championship.

Rory impressively led from start to finish, concluding the Open with a total of 271 which was 17 under par. With the Open win, Rory only needs to win the Masters in order to accomplish the impressive feat of winning all four majors.

After the 18th hole today in the final round that sealed his victory, Rory threw a golf ball in celebration towards the peanut gallery. Green Jacket Auction, who according to their Twitter account are the “largest Auction House for Golf Memorabilia in the world”, offered $10,000 to the fan that caught Rory’s ball on the 18th hole.

The Green Jacket Auction house is apparently not playing any games, and wants to continue to beef up their memorabilia collection. The question is, where in the world is that ball, and who is the lucky fan that caught it?

Would you give up the ball for $10,000, or would you play hard ball and try to get a better price? Let us know what you think the ball is worth in the comments below.
