Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is currently in all sorts of hot water. He is currently facing a suspension from the league for a substance abuse policy violation, and while that was all getting sorted out he was arrested on suspicion of DWI over Fourth of July weekend.
ESPN is reporting that Gordon’s blood-alcohol count was .09, just over the .08 limit.
The team has been told, sources said, that because Gordon’s blood-alcohol count was tested at .09, just over the legal limit of .08, it’s possible he could have the charges reduced.
Browns head coach Mike Pettine has had a hell of an offseason heading into his first season with the Browns. Not only has he had to deal with Gordon, but he has had to deal with rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel and all of his antics.
“It is concerning and you want to address it, but until we know where he stands with the league we don’t know really where he stands with us,” Pettine said. “I’ve stated before that we’ve had the meetings, we’ve discussed all the options, from the best case to the worst case. And we’re still in that mode of waiting.”
The Browns aren’t planning on releasing Gordon and the hearing to determine Gordon’s punishment could be within the next two weeks
