University of Virgina-Lynchburg defensive tackle LaKendrick Ross made himself eligible for the supplemental draft this year, but there were no takers (for him or any of the other players in the draft). Now the Cincinnati Bengals will reportedly give Ross a shot as a UDFA.

More from Cincinnati Bengals

Aaron Wilson reports that the Bengals will sign Ross a day after having him in for a workout.

At 6-4, 366, Ross is certainly an imposing physical specimen. He put up some good numbers at his pro day as well, running a 1.81 in the 10-yard split and between a 5.4 and 5.5 in the 40-yard dash. But like all players who go the supplemental draft route, there are major question marks.

Ross played just one year at Virgina-Lynchburg before being ruled academically ineligible and missing the entire 2013 season. Before that he was set to play at Morgan State, but again ran into academic issues.

With only 6 total college games under his belt, all coming in 2012, Ross is obviously a very very raw prospect. Considering the team’s track record with players like Vontaze Burfict, the Bengals might be the perfect place for LaKendrick Ross to land.

With his size and athleticism, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Bengals keep Ross on the practice squad and see if they can’t develop him. The man is large and he can move.
