The Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings have been linked in trade rumors recently surrounding Josh Smith but so far nothing has come about in terms of an actual trade.

More from Detroit Pistons

There seems to be a reason for that though, as the Pistons and Kings are not meeting eye-to-eye at all on trade talks which have caused them to breakdown and become non-existent, for the most part.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, despite there being rather rampant trade rumors about the Kings getting close to acquiring Smith from the Pistons, Detroit was never seriously engaged in trade talks to land the forward at all this summer.

"Sacramento had made calls about Smith in June, but Detroit never heard an offer that remotely interested them and never seriously engaged in discussions, sources told Yahoo Sports."

Sacramento knows what kind of talent that Smith can be, but so too do the Pistons who are not ready to give him up without asking for the moon first. In fact, it doesn’t sound at all like the Pistons are interested in dealing their forward before Stan Van Gundy gets a crack at tapping into his potential first.
