Rajon Rondo has long been the light at the end of the tunnel for the Boston Celtics and they have no plan on making that light dim in the near future.

More from Boston Celtics

After losing their own Big 3 over the course of a few years, the Celtics relied heavily on Rondo to be their face and even through a torn ACL and a tough rebuilding period, this has managed to be the case.

According to NBA scribe Chuck Myron, the Boston Celtics may not have that much to worry about when it comes to the future of Rajon Rondo because he just doesn’t seem that motivated to leave in free agency next year.

"The Celtics continue to hold a firm stance against trading him. A lot can change between now and the deadline, but I’ll bet the C’s hang on to him. Rondo doesn’t seem that motivated to leave in free agency. He’s seen Danny Ainge rebuild the team in one fell swoop before, in 2008. I think he has faith that it can happen again."

The Celtics need to keep Rondo in some way as they’re not going to be able to trade for Kevin Love and would be absent a true superstar if they allowed Rondo to simply leave in free agency. But thankfully, Rondo has appeared unfazed by the trade rumors and open at numerous times to talk about an extension which only means that he’s going be easier to deal with in the summer of 2015 than the like of other recent and near future free agents have and will be.
