Robert Griffin III

One of the most dynamic rookies to ever grace a football field was Robert Griffin III. Leading the Redskins to one of the most glorious runs in franchise history as a rookie, the former Heisman Trophy winner led his team to a playoff berth against the Seattle Seahawks. Not only did his Redskins team get out to a dismal 3-6 beginning, Griffin quickly did what he does best, rallied his troops. In the process, the electrifying Griffin helped his team accomplish great feats, winning seven straight games and leading the Redskins franchise to a place they have not been since 2007, the NFL playoffs.

Griffin brought something to Washington D.C. that has been missed for sometime, hope.

Although Redskins Nation knew they arrived early for the party by exceeding expectations, nevertheless, in Griffin they trusted. The next step in his growth and development would not be a good one as the fearless Griffin got faced with injury tearing his ACL & LCL.

So when the Redskins once again started the season slow, there was no panic in the air. People were used to the confident swagger that their leader had instilled in the team. This time, there would be no saving grace, everything changed. Griffin was not as sharp as his rookie campaign, more than doubling his interceptions from 5 (very impressive) in 2013 to 12 (not as impressive) in 2014. More importantly, he lead his team to a 3-13 record (ouch).

Making Griffin’s job easier was a huge priority this offseason. In order to sustain his career, management knew that they needed to keep him ironically in the pocket where he is deadly effective. Adding in a weapon such as stud receiver DeSean Jackson will only increase the team’s production. A full year of Griffin with Los Angeles’ finest receiver, the Redskins should be trending upward again in the NFC East.

Which brings me to my next quarterback….
