The MLB trade season is here which  means the closer we get tot he deadline, the more crazy the potential deals get and the wilder the rumors become.

More from MLB Trade Rumors

Most of the rumors at the moment surround Tamp Bay Rays ace David Price, as there has been heavy indication that the former Cy Young Award winner will be moved before the deadline arrives.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the St. Louis Cardinals are going out on a limb and are thinking about trying to acquire not only David Price from the Tampa Bay Rays but also third baseman Evan Longoria.

As Olney points out, there doesn’t seem to be much more to this than the Cardinals front office wishing it could happen, but this wouldn’t be the first time a trade went from wishful thinking to actually happening. That doesn’t mean it will though, as the Rays need to be down with that sort of a trade and shipping away your best two players to rebuild so suddenly likely isn’t what the front office is thinking.
