This has been a pretty amazing week for musical comedian Weird Al Yankovic. Since the release of his new album Mandatory Fun, he has been on a roll in regards to releasing new music videos for all of his fans to feast their eyes on.
He has already taken on some of the catchiest tunes in popular music today.
His song “Tacky” is a parody of the ridiculously popular tune “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Weird Al has also taken on songs like Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Lorde’s hit “Royals,” and even I-g-g-y herself Iggy Azalea’s hit single “Fancy.”
Now, he has released an original song that is slightly different than his normal material. The song is called “Mission Statement.” It’s set to the tune of Crosby, Stills, and Nash song; however, it is not actually a parody of any of their songs.
If you have ever worked in an office environment, then there is a very good chance that you have heard many of these phrases on multiple occasions. You just never knew that someone could actually make them this interesting.
Weird Al told the Wall Street Journal about what brought him to make such a silly song out of so many buzzwords and key phrases from an office environment.
“I wanted to do a song about all the ridiculous double-speak and meaningless buzzwords that I’ve been hearing in office environments my entire life,” Yankovic told the Wall Street Journal. “I just thought it would be ironic to juxtapose that with the song stylings of CSN, whose music pretty much symbolizes the antithesis of corporate America.”
