WWE RAW results, live blog (July 21, 2014): Battleground fallout; Brock Lesnar return

facebooktwitterreddit

Now that WWE Battleground is out of the way, it’s time to look forward to one of the most exciting events of the year as Summerslam is right around the corner. That journey will officially begin on Monday night with RAW emanating live from Miami Florida.

More from WWE

Of course, as we saw on Sunday night, John Cena walked away from the main event with his title belts still in hand, however it has already been confirmed that he will not be on the show tonight as he will be on the set of his new movie.

But, who has been confirmed for the show on Monday night is Brock Lesnar, who will be returning for the first time since the night after he ended the Undertaker’s streak. Lesnar will be returning presumably to begin his Summerslam feud with Cena, which makes the absence of Cena rather odd.

Also on Monday night, we should see the continuation of the saga between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. The two never had their match on Sunday night after Ambrose lost his mind and attacked Rollins on multiple occasions, including in the parking lot. Despite not having the match, though, it added an interesting element to this feud that could take it to new heights.

All of this and more will take place on Monday night, and you can follow along with the coverage live here at this link when the show begins at 8 PM ET.

Until then, feel free to get the conversation started in the comments section below.

Opening Segment

WWE RAW on Monday night starts off with Triple H being announced by Justin Roberts and the boss makes his way down to the ring for what presumably could be the Summerslam main event announcement.

Hunter grabs the mic and says that no one backstage wants to look him in the eye because they think he’s going to blow a gasket over John Cena keeping the WWE title at Battleground. He admits that he is mad, very mad, madder than he has been in a long time, but he has options for how to handle this.

He says that he’s gonna tweet his displeasure. Maybe and Instagram or a Vine also. He says that if he doesn’t get what he wants, he’s going to riot. He’s clearly trolling the internet fan base at this point.

Triple H then says that maybe he can just fire everyone.

Or, he says he could just relax, knowing that sooner or later, he always wins. If he has to wait four more weeks to win, then so be it. Next he guarantees that Cena will no longer be the champion after Summerslam.

He starts to ask who gets the opportunity, but he’s interrupted by Randy Orton who says that he’s owed a one-on-one match. Orton guarantees that he’ll beat Cena. Hunter says that he appreciates his confidence, but the entire group will have an opportunity tonight to prove to him they’re worthy.

Next up, Kane comes out after Orton runs him down a bit. Kane says that he hopes he’s being considered to face John Cena because he can bring the belt back. He says that he’s tired of babysitting Orton.

And of course, here comes Roman Reigns now.

Reigns stays on the outside and says that his name belongs in the conversation, too. He says everyone wants to see Cena vs. Reigns. He then drops the mic and hits Kane with a Superman punch.

Hunter grabs the mic again and says that Reigns will have a match against Kane and Orton right now.

Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton and Kane

Back from commercial, the bell rings. Orton and Reigns lock up. Reigns gets the upper hand early, hitting Orton with some right hands in the corner. Orton quickly turns the tables and tags in Kane.

Kane gets in the ring and locks up with Reigns. He hits a knee to the midsection, but when he comes off the ropes, Reigns gets him with a Samoan Drop. Orton gets tagged back in and starts taking it to Reigns. Quick tag is made back to Kane.

Eventually, Reigns gets back in control and knocks Kane to the outside.

Back from commercial, Orton is in control of Reigns and he starts hammering away. After Kane gets the tag, Reigns starts to take over once again.

Kane goes to tag Orton, but Orton won’t do it. With Kane distracted, Reigns hits the Super man punch, followed by a spear and the pin.

Winner: Roman Reigns

4-on-1 Handicap Match with Nikki Bella

Before the commercial break, Stephanie McMahon tells the girls to annihilate Nikki Bella and she sends them down to the ring.

When Nikki makes her way down to the ring, she goes over and hugs Brie, who is sitting in the front row of the crowd. Right after that, Stephanie comes out. She says that the quitter is here, and she loves how Nikki faked that she was surprised to see her sister. Steph walks over to Brie and starts berating her. She reminds Brie that she abandoned Nikki for Daniel Bryan.

Stephanie says that Bryan was stripped of the title and has been on the shelf ever since. She says that she’s happy that Brie is here because now she can watch Nikki get demolished.

As Stephanie is walking away, Brie calls her a bitch. Steph wanted to have her ejected, but Brie shows her her ticket. Brie grabs the microphone and calls her a vindictive bitch again and she attacks.

Now she’s tossed from the arena.

Stephanie says ring the bell and the Diva’s in the ring start pummeling Nikki one-by-one.

After about a minute, the match is over when Alicia Fox gets the pin.

But the big story here was the return of Brie Bella.

Damien Sandow vs. Bo Dallas

Sandow comes out dressed as LeBron James and trolls the Miami Heat fans. After about three minutes of action, Bo Dallas hits the Bo Dog for the win.

Winner: Bo Dallas

Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel with Bray Wyatt

When they come back from commercial, the Highlight Reel is set up, but there was a situation backstage, Jericho was being interviewed backstage, but he was attacked by the Wyatt Family. Bray and the boys make their way out.

Bray garbs the mic and says that Jericho won’t be able to make it. They show the replay of the attack.

Wyatt says that their savior is not there for them tonight, but he is. He cuts a lengthy promo about the feud not being over.

They cut backstage where Zack Ryder and R-Truth are checking on Jericho.

The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler

The Miz comes out with his entrance package a little revamped before the music finally hits. He shows off his new Intercontinental title before making his way down the ramp and they cut to commercial.

Back from commercial and Ziggler’s music hits to a loud pop and he makes his way down to the ring.

Dolph tries to go after Miz early, but the champ goes to the outside. Miz attempts to get back in the ring, but he pulls back again. And then again.

But now Ziggler goes to the outside and starts chasing Miz. He finally gets him back in the ring and starts the onslaught. They go back outside where Ziggler tosses the champ into the barricade and hits him with a chop. He gets him back in the ring and Miz gets in control for the first time. The two then trade pinfall attempts.

Ziggler hits nine elbows in a row with Miz on his back on the canvas. After Miz rolled out of the way of the 10th, he gets Ziggler in a headlock. Ziggler counters coming off the ropes with a shoulder tackle.

Back from commercial, Miz is in control but Ziggler tries to make the comeback. Miz stops that quickly and starts stomping away. He stays in control for a few more minutes, and they eventually knock each other down, but both answer the 10 count.

Following that, Ziggler gets a second wind and starts attacking. Miz is able to get back on the offensive and he locks in the Figure Four, but Ziggler gets to the ropes.

Ziggler hits the Fame Asser, but only gets the two count. After a failed Skull Crushing Finale attempt, Ziggler hits the Zig Zag for the win.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

AJ Lee and Paige vs. Natalya and Emma

Emma and AJ start things off with AJ getting the upper hand early. Emma tries to get into it, but AJ has an answer. She tags in Paige who doesn’t do so well to start. Nattie gets the tag and she starts to pummel Paige. Nattie locks in the sharpshooter, but Paige gets to AJ.

AJ quickly locks in the Black Widow and Natalya submits.

As they’re celebrating after the match, we finally get the Paige heel turn we’ve all been expecting. She destroys AJ on the outside, throwing her into the barricade and then over the announce table.

Paige skips around the ring and up the ramp.

Fandango vs. Zack Ryder

Fandango is in the ring when the show comes back from commercial, and Ryder comes out with Layla and Summer Rae.

Fandango has the offense early, getting a chin lock in the middle of the ring, but Ryder makes a small comeback. He hits the Rough Ryder and makes the pin attempt. Fandango gets his foot on the ropes, but Layla knocks it off.

Zack Ryder won a match…on RAW.

Flo-Rida performance takes the 10 PM slot.
In one of the most bizarre segments that we have seen on RAW in quite some time, Stephanie McMahon was arrested on Monday Night RAW for striking Brie Bella earlier in the evening.

In case you missed anything, earlier in the night, Stephanie McMahon came out during the match where four Diva’s took on Nikki Bella. It just so happened that Brie was sitting ringside. Stephanie came out to troll her, but after being called a bitch twice she slapped Brie.

More from WWE

Later on in the night, Stephanie was out to introduce the performance by Flo-Rida. After the performance was over, Stephanie thanked him, but immediately after on the outside of the ring, she was approached by the men in suits that you see in the picture above.

The live crowd went absolutely nuts for the segment. They ended up reading Stephanie her Miranda Rights. She was then handcuffed and escorted up the ramp.

Backstage, she was met by Triple H who was absolutely out of his mind as he berated his rights and told his wife not to worry.

We knew coming in that the story with Brie and Stephanie would be good, but this twist tonight was absolutely fantastic. Nice swerve that we didn’t see coming in this whole ordeal.

Should be fun to watch going forward to Summerslam now.

RybAxel defeated Big E and Kofi Kingston

After the match, Xavier Woods was in the ring and he cut a heel promo about taking what they want, and it appears we’ll have a new group on our hands.

Rusev vs. The Great Khali

After some offense from Khali, mainly chops, Rusev quickly locks in the clutch for the win.

Winner: Rusev
