The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be facing a holdout situation with star running back Jamaal Charles, but there is some good news for the team early in training camp. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFLL Network, pass rusher Justin Houston is expected to report.

Veterans are set to report to training camp on Wednesday.

Houston is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and he is hoping for a big pay day similar to teammate Tamba Hali.

Perhaps reporting to camp on time can get Houston in the team’s good graces.

Houston will be making $1.431 million in 2014.

Along with Houston and Charles, the Chiefs are also in an interesting spot with quarterback Alex Smith, who is also set to hit the open market in 2015.

With so many players that the Chiefs need to sort out contract details with, it will be a busy few weeks in the team’s front office.

Charles is arguably the most important player on the Chiefs roster, but he still has two years left on his deal so Houston and Smith will likely take priority.
