Our friends over at Bovada were kind enough to send over the latest odds and have offered the odds from the day after the National Championship Game to compare them.
Florida State was the favorite back on January 7 with 11/2 odds while the Alabama Crimson Tide just behind with 13/2 odds. Since that day, Florida State lost several underclassmen – wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan and running backs Devonta Freeman and James Wilder, Jr. to the NFL Draft. They also lost their backup quarterback, Jacob Coker. Coker, a very talented quarterback who was stuck behind Florida State’s Heisman Trophy winning signal-caller, Jameis Winston, will likely be Alabama’s starting quarterback in the fall. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, who was Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator with the LSU Tigers, believes Coker is the most talented player Saban has ever had at quarterback. That’s one of the reasons Alabama and Florida State are now co-favorites with 11/2 odds.
