Since the game was announced earlier this year, the plan all along from developer HB Studios was to have The Golf Club feature cross platform sharing.

There were a number of hurdles to jump over in order to make the idea a reality, but HB Studios managed to leap by them all.

In an announcement this week on the game’s official website, it was revealed that The Golf Club will feature cross platform sharing when it comes to the game’s unique course creator. That means that should a player design a course on the Xbox One, a player on either the PC or PlayStation 4 will be able to download and play on that specific course.

“When you create and publish a course it will immediately be available to all members of The Golf Club regardless of the system you’re playing on,” the announcement said. “There are no special steps either as the person creating the course or downloading courses. They will simply appear in the list in the exact same way as any other course!

“The only difference is that names of the creators of courses not native to your current platform will be displayed as “TGC Member” – this is to conform to a number of privacy and parental control regulations on the various platforms.”

Despite the ability to share courses with users on other platforms, players will only be able to play live with other players on the same system. That means the dream of an Xbox user playing with a PlayStation user still isn’t a reality just yet.

That being said, if cross platform sharing is possibly in this matter, one has to wonder just when the ability to have cross platform play will come to fruition. Then again, with companies so determined to beat each other, we may never see that because it could kill competition.

The Golf Club is slated to release this summer on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
