Bills fans are expecting their first round draft pick Sammy Watkins to make a ton of highlight reel catches this year. But he will have to go some to make a better catch than the one he pulled off in practice on Wednesday.

More from Buffalo Bills

The Bills are doing a red zone drill when Watkins breaks into the end zone, trips to the ground, then recovers to reach out and snag the ball one-handed. The display of sticky-handedness is practically Cris Carter-esque.

Yes, it’s just practice. There is no defender anywhere near Watkins. But it’s a pretty great play nevertheless. Just to be able to recover that quickly, keep track of the ball and snag it out of the air when it’s not even really close.

Pretty impressive.

Knowing how football fans are, especially fans in a victory-starved market like Buffalo, that will be more than enough to ramp up the excitement. Fans were already stoked about Watkins and this will only add more fuel to the fire.

I have a feeling Sammy Watkins is going to make more than his share of great catches this year. He will need to with those less-than-accurate QBs in Buffalo.

I mean, E.J. Manuel? Seriously?
