Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos could one day return to the Toronto Maple Leafs. When LeBron James returned to Cleveland, Stamkos favorited some of the tweets and fans were all worked up.

However, it doesn’t seem like he is thinking about his free agency anytime soon.

Stamkos spoke about the situation with the Canadian Press to put any of the speculation to rest.

As far as Stamkos is concerned, he isn’t thinking about a return to Toronto… yet.

“We’ll see what happens. It’s a couple years away,” Stamkos said. “Right now I’m focused on what I have to do to win in Tampa, and I think we’ve really established ourselves as a team that can compete in upcoming years.

“For me, that’s the important thing is getting a chance to win. It looks like we’re going to have that chance for a couple years.”

Stamkos is saying what he needs to say right now as a member of the Lightning.

Of course, that won’t stop the Maple Leafs fans from dreaming about watching Stamkos one day return home.
