Broncos’ Demaryius Thomas to miss start of camp after death in family
By Mike Dyce
Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas will be late to the start of training camp for an unfortunate set of circumstances, a death in the family.
From the Denver Post:
"Broncos top receiver Demaryius Thomas will be absent from the early days of training camp so he can attend to the funeral services of the grandmother who helped raise him in Georgia.Broncos coach John Fox excused Thomas, who is expected to miss the first four days of camp."
That puts Thomas’ return at early next week. Given that this is his third season with quarterback Peyton Manning, Thomas surely won’t be at a huge disadvantage for missing a few days. He is coming off of the second season in a row with over 1,400 yards receiving. In his first two seasons with Manning he has caught 186 passes for 2,864 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Thomas “is where he needs to be, (our) prayers are with him.,” said Broncos head coach John Fox on a morning radio appearance, via ESPN.
