Rumored to be involved in such a trade is Chicago Bulls rookie Doug McDermott, along with Taj Gibson and Nikoka Mirotic. For what it’s worth, Taj Gibson has already stated that he hasn’t heard from the team regarding a trade and that officials continually tell him not to worry about the rumors.
The same seems to be true for McDermott as Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman says he expects McDermott to be part of the organization for the long haul.
There are really two ways to look at Forman’s most recent comments. One is that he could be telling the complete truth and has no plans to trade Doug McDermott. Or it’s possible that he’s simply giving lip service to fend off the rumor mill dogs.
It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a general manager has hinted a player wouldn’t be traded only to find themselves playing in a new zip code soon after, so it’s difficult to know just how truthful Forman is being.
In addition, it could be that Forman is in potential damage control after McDermott’s name surfaced and he’s trying to let it be known that the rookie was never on the block.
Whatever the case, assuming Forman is being truthful, it doesn’t sound as if Doug McDermott will be leaving the Chicago Bulls anytime soon.
