After Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice retired, the team was expected to sign Morrell Presley to a deal.

More from NFL

Less than 24 hours later, a deal was completed.

When the NFL released the full list of transactions from Thursday, the Seahawks had signed Presley, who participated in a work out with the team earlier this year, and released second-year offensive guard Jared Smith and rookie tight end Chase Dixon.

The 6-foot-4 Presley will now look to make a big impression on his new coaching staff during training camp.

Interestingly enough, Presley is familiar with Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

During the recruiting process, Presley had committed to the USC Trojans before flipping to the UCLA Bruins. He eventually transferred to California (Pa.) University. Presley went unselected in this year’s draft.

Veterans and rookies reported to Seahawks training camp at Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton, Washington on Thursday. The first official practice will kick off tomorrow.
