Rihanna follows Joel Embiid on Twitter after he obsesses over her

One of the most important subplots this NBA offseason has been Philadelphia 76ers’ rookie Joel Embiid’s emergence as one of the greatest Twitter users of all time.

Among Embiid’s Twitter stunts is that he’s making it clear which female celebrities he’s after. After tweeting about his interest in Kim Kardashian, Embiid decided he preferred singer Rihanna instead.

Embiid then proceeded to ask Rihanna out and photoshop her wearing a 76ers jersey, among other Rihanna-related tweets. Embiid’s Twitter avatar also features her.

Well, it appears Embiid’s persistence has paid off… to some degree. Rihanna hasn’t actually commented about Embiid, but SB Nation discovered that the pop star followed Embiid on Twitter and favorited the following tweet.

If Embiid is actually able to score a date from Rihanna because of his constant tweeting than Embiid should be considered an NBA legend before his career even starts.

Still, regardless of what happens from here, Embiid is a winner. The NBA offseason is in a bit of lull right now and the former Kansas star has made this time a bit more entertaining for the rest of us.
