Miami Dolphins news: Jamar Taylor, Cortland Finnegan in battle for starting CB spot
By Jack Crosby
It’s a given that Pro Bowler Brent Grimes will be starting and one cornerback slot for the Miami Dolphins this season, but there is a huge question as training camp gets underway as to who will be starting opposite him. Will it be veteran Cortland Finnegan, or third-year player Jamar Taylor?

At this point in the beginning of training camp, there is no answer to that question as the Palm Beach Post is reporting that the two are engaged in a battle to see who will start opposite Grimes when the season starts.
Despite the battle, though, Taylor still pointed out that he’s soaking up a lot of knowledge from the veteran Finnegan, who has also been about as helpful as can be during this whole process.
“Cortland’s been in this league for a while,” Taylor said. “I see him do stuff that I’ve never seen anybody do. He’s real smart, he’s agressive. A young guy like me, all I can do is look up to him, try to pick his brain and go out there and try to do my best.”
“He does a good job of helping me out, helping me get better. And then he goes out there and competes,” Taylor said. “We’re always competing. We’re both trying to prove ourselves.”
As of right now, head coach Joe Philbin has pointed out that Finnegan will continue to take the reps with the first team defense, but Taylor isn’t all that far behind.
