The NCAA football season is (almost) upon us. With that comes a seemingly endless amount of speculation about the upcoming National Championship Playoff, and in addition to that, the race for the most coveted individual award in all of college sports.

The Heisman Trophy.

Jameis Winston, the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner, leads a group of incredibly talented and recognizable returners, and the majority of them happen to be quarterbacks on some of the top-rated teams at the beginning of the 2014 campaign. However, there are always under-the-radar players who jump into the Heisman discussion as the season heats up, and today, we will dive into five “darkhorse” candidates for this year’s award.
