Liga MX standings 2014: Monterrey, Club America top table after Apertura Week 2

Week 2 of the Liga MX Apertura season is in the books and there are only two unbeaten teams remaining in the table.

After two weeks of play, Monterrey and Club America sit at the top of the table with six points a piece.

Below Monterrey and Club America are six teams who are tied with four points each — Tigres UANL, Atlas, Chiapas, Santos Laguna, Chivas Guadalajara and Puebla.

At the bottom of the table are Liga MX newcomers Leones Negros and Tijuana.

However, there is a third team that has yet to record a point in the opening two weeks and it comes as a big surprise. Defending Liga MX champions Leon, who won the Apertura and Clausura a year ago, are 0-2, thanks to losses to Club America and Tigres.

It is surprising to see the defending champions off to such a slow start, but there is a long season ahead and plenty can still change.
