On Sunday evening, the International Champions Cup continued as English Premier League club Liverpool took on Greek Super League giant Olympiakos at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
It was a rare opportunity for fans in the United States to see world class soccer, and the two sides delivered.
When the final whistle was blown, it was Liverpool who came away with the 1-0 win looking to get one step closer to the final International Champions Cup next month in Miami. .
Liverpool wasted no time in getting the action going, with an early goal coming off of the right foot of Raheem Sterling, who beat Olympiakos keeper Balázs Megyeri to the bottom right corner.
The goal came in just the fifth minute of the match.
From that point on, Liverpool was able to dictate the pace and found themselves hanging on to a bulk of the possession.
Olympiakos had a fantastic scoring opportunity in the 79th minute, but the Greek side was unable to capitalize as they looked to the officials begging for a call inside of the box.
Liverpool showed off more of their possession late in the second half as they looked to secure their win.
Olympiakos put some pressure on The Reds late as the tired legs for Liverpool began to show, but the English side was able to hang on to the 1-0 win in Chicago.
