Detroit Pistons’ restricted free agent big man Greg Monroe may be the best player remaining on the market while the best value in the NBA may wind up being Dallas Mavericks’ free agent forward Shawn Marion.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes the Atlanta Hawks are still in the mix for both Monroe and Marion.

"How about both? I think the Hawks make sense as a sign-and-trade destination for Greg Monroe. They’ve been linked to him in the past, and GM Danny Ferry’s agent when he was a player is the same guy who represents Monroe: David Falk. I’m not so sure about Marion, since I think they like DeMarre Carroll for the role that Marion would play, but I wouldn’t rule it out."

The Hawks hoped to make a major move to add to their of big men Al Horford and Paul Millsap and point guard Jeff Teague, but had had to settle for a smaller move so far, signing former Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Thabo Sefolosha.

Monroe put up 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season. In his career, Monroe has averaged 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.8% from the field and 67.8% from the charity stripe. Marion averaged 10.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 48.2% from the field,  35.8% from beyond the arc and 78.5% from the free throw line last season. Over the course of his career, he’s put up 15.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 48.5% from the floor, 33.2% from three and 81.1% from the charity stripe.
