Indianapolis Colts cut Chris Rainey for violating team rules
By Josh Sanchez
The Indianapolis Colts watched Vick Ballard suffer a torn Achilles tendon in training camp that brought an early end to his season, so the opportunity was there for a number of different running backs to step up and earn a bigger role.

Unfortunately for Chris Rainey, he will not be one of those players.
The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday morning that they will be releasing the speedy running back/return specialist.
However, the decision to release Rainey was not performance based.
Instead, it was a decision apparently based on a violation of team rules.
From Adam Schefter of ESPN:
A previous arrest ended his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers after his rookie season, but there is no word on what led to the “violation of team rules” that got Rainey released from the Colts.
