The Los Angeles Lakers hoped to land a big fish this offseason but knew it would be a long shot and seem to be content with the way their offseason went. They will instead look to the future and could look to make a big move in 2015 when Portland Trail Blazers’ power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love and Memphis Grizzlies’ center Marc Gasol can all become free agents.

More from Kevin Durant

Chuck Myron of Hoops believes the Lakers’ main target is Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, who can become a free agent in 2016.

"Well, LeBron will be a free agent again in no later than two years. And I’m sure they’d look at Rajon Rondo if he came available, along with any intriguing names on the restricted free agency market if their teams don’t agree to extensions in the next few months (I took a look at them here: http://www.hoopsrumors.com/...). But I think the main target, at least in the back of their minds, is Kevin Durant in 2016."

The Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors are also reportedly going to target Durant (as will every other team in the league), but Durant has never given any indication that he is unhappy in Oklahoma City.

Durant averaged 27.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 50.3% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 87.3% from the free throw line during the regular season. Then, he averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 46.0% from the floor, 34.4% from beyond the arc and 81.0% from the charity stripe in the postseason.
